Hello there! My name is Kerry.

I’ve wanted to play guitar for as long as I can remember. At age twelve, my mom bought me my first guitar and I've been playing every day (with a few exceptions) ever since. I grew up in the suburbs of Dallas and played in bands with my friends. Being self taught, I had to develop my ear and instincts which serve me well to this day.

In 1990, I graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies, a minor in Music Theory and a secondary in classical guitar.

I’ve had the honor of sharing the stages with innumerable music talents including Tommy Tutone, Gino Vannelli, Mike Skill from the classic rock band the Romantics and even the late, great comedian Don Rickles.

I started teaching in 1990 and that, in conjunction with performing, has been my sole passion and vocation.

In 1999, I studied bass at the University of Memphis with Department head, Tim Goodwin. Since that time, I have been teaching and performing on bass  in addition to guitar and vocals.

From 2015 to 2020 I organized and hosted a youth showcase for students every Sunday evening at a local restaurant. The showcase was design to gently and positively give students, up to the age of 19, the opportunity to have the experience of performing to a live audience.

My goal as an instructor, is to tailor lessons to the individuals interests while promoting confidence and enjoyment. We can study various styles such as rock, country, classical, jazz and funk. If you’re interested in music theory and reading music, I can help.

Give me a call, and lets get started!
