"I took lessons from Kerry years ago and have spent a lot of time speaking with him about music and performance for the last decade.  Kerry is the perfect guitar teacher since he approaches the instrument from a place of love.  Being devoted to your craft is the single most important criteria for creating and sharing great art.  I've sat and listened to Kerry practice his own ideas on the guitar, wishing that I was that good.  

The truth is, you can be that good if you follow Kerry's teachings.  His teaching style is flexible, informal, and, most importantly, student driven.  Kerry understands that students are only going to practice if it leads the student to the music that they love.  He never forces his musical opinion or taste on his students, giving them room to develop their own vision of their musical future.  However, every student requires a certain amount of fundamentals, basic chord shapes, scales, learning the neck, etc., and Kerry has incredible sheets that make learning these concepts fun and challenging.  

Beyond his teaching, Kerry's personality is extremely approachable, he has a wonderful, all-ages, sense of humor, and he will guide your progress on the instrument without making it feel like bootcamp.  My personal favorite aspect of Kerry's teaching is when he shows you something he's working on: it's often so musical and awesome that you would rather learn that over whatever song you have been practicing!  I hold Kerry in high esteem and consider him the greatest teacher in the Pacific Northwest.
